Santa Barbara Whale Watch - 9/5/09

On its first trip out whale watching in the Santa Barbara Channel since being in the boat yard for over two weeks, the CONDOR Express encountered a group of five Orcas (Killer Whales). This group hung witht he boat for over two hours, often swimming right next to the boat. Half way through a large pool of blood showed up from the depths of the water where the pod had killed a sumerged Seal or Sea Lion. This started a feeding frenzy among the gulls who fought for scraps. Seeing Orcas out on the water is always a treat as they are infrequently spotted, so this day was a treat!
